Spider Control Malaysia
Webs, Bites & When to Treat (2026)

Webs back in the same corners every week? Why spiders move in, what clears them for good, and when a pest control visit is worth it.

📍 We serve KL, Selangor & Putrajaya.

Cobwebs around a porch wall light and under the eaves of a terrace house at dusk

Spider control starts with the insects spiders eat: most spiders in Malaysian homes are harmless hunters that move in where lights and gaps bring a steady supply of insects. Clear the webs, cut the insect supply by changing outdoor lighting and sealing gaps, and spiders usually thin out on their own; call a pest control company when webs keep returning on high eaves and facades or alongside a wider insect problem. On ClickBina's pest control price list a general one-off treatment is RM120 – RM350 per visit (indicative 2026, Klang Valley).

Why spiders move into a house

Spiders go where food is. In a Malaysian home that means anywhere insects gather: around porch and gate lights, under eaves, in window corners, behind furniture near open doors, in store rooms and in the roof space. A house with lots of webs usually has lots of flying insects first.

ClickBina's pest control price list covers termites, bed bugs, rats, mosquitoes, wasps and pigeons, but not spiders. This guide fills that gap: what to do yourself, what the building side can fix, and when a professional treatment makes sense.

Most spiders are harmless, and some help

The spiders people see indoors are mostly small web-builders and hunting spiders that feed on mosquitoes, flies, moths and cockroach nymphs. Like the house lizard covered in ClickBina's cicak guide, they are as much a sign of insects as a pest in their own right.

A few spiders can give a painful bite, and large hairy spiders or ones found in shoes, gloves and stored boxes are best left alone and removed with a container rather than by hand. If you are unsure what a spider is, treat it with caution and do not handle it.

Clearing webs safely

  • Use a long-handled duster or vacuum with an extension; avoid climbing ladders alone on hard floors.
  • Clear webs regularly; a spider that keeps losing its web often moves on.
  • Vacuum egg sacs as well as webs, then empty the vacuum outside.
  • Wear gloves when clearing store rooms, shoes and stacked boxes.
  • For high eaves, facades and over porches, do not lean out from upper floors; leave it to someone with the right access equipment.

Cut the insect supply: lights and food

Because spiders follow insects, the most lasting spider control is insect control:

  1. Switch outdoor lights off when not needed, or use motion-sensor lights so they are not on all night.
  2. Point porch and gate lights at the ground rather than at walls and eaves where webs are built.
  3. Draw curtains at night so indoor light does not pull insects to the windows.
  4. Keep kitchens clean and bins closed to reduce cockroaches and flies.
  5. Remove standing water for mosquitoes; the mosquito fogging guide covers breeding sites.

ClickBina's cockroach control guide and mosquito control guide deal with the two insects that most often feed spiders indoors.

Close the way in

Spiders and their prey walk and fly in through the same openings. The building side of spider control is closing them:

  • Insect screens on windows and ventilation openings; torn screens let insects straight in.
  • Door bottom seals on doors to the porch, yard and kitchen.
  • Gaps around pipes and cables where they pass through walls.
  • Cracks along skirting, window frames and the floor line.
  • Roof and ceiling openings such as missing access-panel covers.

The mosquito screen repair guide and the pest-proofing during renovation guide explain how screens and gaps are dealt with.

Spiders on CCTV cameras and alarm sensors

Security cameras with infrared night vision attract insects, and spiders follow. ClickBina's CCTV guides note that spiders build webs across the lens and trigger motion recording all night, and its alarm guide lists spiders crawling across a motion detector as a classic cause of false alarms. Clean camera domes and sensor lenses regularly, check housings are sealed, and keep nearby lights from drawing insects to the camera.

Spider bites: what to do

Most spider bites in homes cause only minor local pain, redness or itching. Wash the bite with soap and water and use a cold compress. Seek medical attention promptly if pain is severe or spreading, the area swells quickly, a wound develops, or the person feels unwell, and note what the spider looked like if it is safe to do so.

Young children, older people and anyone with allergies should be checked by a doctor sooner rather than later.

When to call pest control

  • Webs keep returning on high eaves, facades or roof overhangs that you cannot reach safely.
  • Spiders appear alongside cockroaches, ants or other insects that need treatment anyway.
  • A store room, garage or roof space has heavy webbing and egg sacs.
  • A business, childcare centre or rental unit needs a regular, documented service.

A pest control company usually removes webs and treats the outside perimeter, eaves and entry points. Ask what product is used, where it is applied and how long to keep children and pets away. ClickBina's pest control services guide explains what a general treatment and an annual package include.

Common Questions

How do I get rid of spiders in my house?

Are house spiders in Malaysia dangerous?
Most are harmless and eat insects. Do not handle unknown spiders, and seek medical help if a bite causes severe or spreading symptoms.
Why are there so many spiders around my porch light?
The light attracts insects at night, and spiders build webs where the food is. Redirect the light or use a motion sensor.
Why do spiders build webs on my CCTV camera?

Does pest control kill spiders?
A perimeter treatment and web removal reduce them, but they return if insects and entry points are not dealt with.
When should I call a pest control company for spiders?
When webs keep returning on high eaves or facades, or spiders come with other insects that need treatment.
How much does general pest control cost?
ClickBina's price list puts a general one-off treatment at RM120–RM350 per visit (indicative 2026, Klang Valley).
