Estimate a parquet or timber floor from the area, the timber type and the preparation the floor needs. Indicative 2026 Klang Valley installed ranges from our parquet flooring cost guide, shown as a range.
📍 We serve KL, Selangor & Putrajaya.

Premium hardwood has an open top end because species and grade vary widely.
Usually only part of the floor. The calculator caps it at the floor area.
Parquet is priced per square foot installed — material plus installation — so the calculator multiplies your floor area by the range for the type you pick. Bamboo flooring is RM7–RM14 per sq ft installed. Engineered wood with a solid top layer is RM9–RM18. Solid timber in common species is RM15–RM27, and solid premium hardwood is RM24–RM47+, with the plus sign kept because rare species can go higher.
Timber needs a flat, dry subfloor, so preparation is added on top. If the old tiles have to come out, our worked example prices removal at RM3 per sq ft for hacking and disposal, applied to the whole floor area. Levelling is usually needed only in patches, so you enter just that area; it is priced at RM3 per sq ft and capped at the floor area so a typo cannot inflate the total.
The ranges come from our parquet flooring cost guide. Herringbone and chevron patterns use more material and more labour than a straight lay, and timber should stay out of bathrooms and balconies. Estimate = floor area × installed range for the flooring type + floor area × RM3 per sq ft (tile removal, if ticked) + levelling area × RM3 per sq ft. Low and high ends are worked out separately; a “+” means the top end is open.
| Factor | How it changes your quote |
|---|---|
| Timber type | Bamboo and engineered wood are the budget-to-mid options; solid hardwood costs more to buy and to lay. |
| Species | Local hardwoods and imported species differ a lot in price, colour and hardness. |
| Lay pattern | Straight planks are the most economical; herringbone and chevron waste more timber and take longer. |
| Subfloor | An uneven or damp slab must be put right before timber goes down. |
| Existing tiles | Removing old tiles adds hacking and disposal across the whole floor. |
| Humidity | Engineered wood copes better with humidity swings than solid timber in many Malaysian homes. |
