See what refreshing your kitchen doors costs against rebuilding it — the reface band, the hardware you may want to change, and a per-foot rebuild figure to compare. Indicative 2026 Klang Valley ranges.

Reface = new or resprayed doors on your existing boxes. Rebuild = new boxes and doors, priced per foot run for comparison.
Used only when you pick a per-hinge option above.
Measure along the wall; count base and wall units on the same run once.
Door-only work is quoted by scope after measuring, not from a per-door rate card, because door counts, sizes and finishes vary too much. So this calculator does not multiply by doors. It shows the published band for a respray or reface of the cabinet doors on a typical rental-unit refit — RM800–RM2,500, usually a compact condo kitchen — and tells you where a bigger or smaller kitchen sits against it.
Hardware is the part you can count. Hinge replacement across a set of doors runs RM100–RM300 fitted. If you would rather price the parts, standard hinges are RM3–RM8 each, generic soft-close RM8–RM20 and Blum, Hettich or Hafele soft-close RM18–RM40 — hardware only. Ball-bearing drawer runners are RM25–RM60 per pair and a lift-up flap mechanism RM250–RM600 per door. New doors normally go on with new hinges, so the reface option does not add hinges on top.
The rebuild option is there for comparison: a full kitchen is priced per foot run — RM180–RM300 in melamine, RM280–RM420 in laminate, RM350–RM600 with an MR plywood carcass and RM400–RM700 in full aluminium. If the wet-side boxes are being rebuilt anyway, upgrading them to MR plywood adds RM30–RM60 per ft run. The figures come from our cabinet door replacement cost guide. | Factor | How it changes your quote |
|---|---|
| Carcass condition | New doors only make sense on dry, square boxes. A soft sink base or swollen edges mean a rebuild of that run, not new fronts. |
| Kitchen size | The reface band describes a compact condo kitchen; more doors, drawer fronts and a tall unit move you above it. |
| Finish | Melamine is the value choice, laminate is tougher on base units, and a sprayed finish can be resprayed later but chips at the edges. |
| Hinges | New doors on tired hinges sag within months. Branded European soft-close costs more per hinge than generic. |
| Colour matching | An exact match for an old laminate is often gone. Replace whole runs, or go deliberately two-tone, rather than single doors. |
| End panels and plinth | If the fronts change colour, the exposed end panels and plinth usually need to change too, or the old colour shows at every end. |
