Estimate the cost of home electrical work in seconds — count the sockets and lighting points you need, pick a DB box upgrade if you want one, or switch to full rewiring by home size. Indicative 2026 Klang Valley ranges, shown as a range.

Enter the number of points for each type; leave 0 for any you do not need.
High-load appliances need their own cable and breaker from the board, not a spur off an existing socket.
Full-rewire ranges are by home size; the number of points and circuits decides where you land.
Small electrical jobs are priced per point, so the calculator multiplies the number of each item by its 2026 Klang Valley range: a socket on surface trunking near the DB RM120–RM250, a concealed (chased-in) socket RM200–RM400, a socket on a long run far from the board RM350–RM600, a USB or USB-C combo socket RM150–RM350 and a weatherproof outdoor point RM250–RM500. A dedicated appliance circuit — a new breaker and its own cable for an aircon, heater or oven — starts from RM400, so the estimate keeps a plus sign rather than inventing a ceiling.
Lighting is counted the same way: a recessed LED downlight is RM60–RM150 per point supplied and installed, and a new wiring point or lighting circuit RM120–RM250 per point. DB box work is a single line: adding or replacing one RCCB, MCB or RCBO is RM250–RM600, a standard single-phase consumer unit upgrade RM1,500–RM3,500, a split-load dual-RCCB board RM2,000–RM4,000 and a three-phase board RM3,500–RM8,000+. Tick fault-finding (RM150–RM400) if a circuit keeps tripping and nobody has found out why yet.
Switch to full rewiring and the calculator uses the whole-house ranges instead: RM4,000–RM8,000 for a studio or small apartment, RM6,000–RM12,000 for a 2–3 bedroom condo, RM8,000–RM15,000 for a single-storey terrace, RM12,000–RM20,000 for a double-storey terrace and RM15,000–RM30,000+ for a semi-D or bungalow. | Factor | How it changes your quote |
|---|---|
| Surface or concealed | Trunking on the wall surface is fastest and needs no patching; chasing the cable into the wall looks neater but adds cutting and making good. |
| Distance from the board | Every extra metre of cable and chasing adds cost, which is why a point far from the DB sits in a higher band. |
| Doing several points at once | Most electricians have a minimum call-out charge, so several points on one visit are far better value than one socket at a time. |
| High-load appliances | Aircon, water heaters and ovens need a dedicated circuit with their own breaker — a spur off an existing socket is how circuits overheat. |
| Board condition | An old board without an RCCB for earth-leakage protection is often upgraded at the same time as new circuits are added. |
| Full rewire vs partial | Frequent tripping, old cabling or a major renovation can make a full rewire better value than patching one circuit at a time. |
