Estimate a water tank replacement or a tank clean in seconds — pick the tank type and capacity, then tick removal of the old tank, a new frame or crane lifting. Indicative 2026 Klang Valley ranges.

A typical terrace house uses a 1,000–2,000 L rooftop poly tank.
Leave unticked if the old tank is a poly tank that simply lifts out.
A replacement water tank is quoted as supply plus installation, and the tank type and capacity set the band. Installed, a poly rooftop tank runs RM650–RM950 for 500 L, RM900–RM1,400 for 1,000 L, RM1,400–RM2,200 for 2,000 L and RM2,800–RM4,500 for 5,000 L. A 10,000 L fibreglass panel (GRP) tank is RM6,500–RM10,000, a 1,000 L stainless steel tank RM2,300–RM3,900 and a 3,000 L underground poly tank RM5,000–RM9,500 including excavation.
Three extras are added only when you tick them. Removing an old concrete or built-in fibreglass tank needs hacking and disposal (RM500–RM1,500); a poly tank usually just lifts out. A rooftop frame in mild steel or angle iron is RM400–RM900 when the old one has corroded. Lifting a large tank to a three-storey roof can need a crane or rigging (RM500–RM2,000 on labour). An underground tank or a low-pressure home may also need a booster pump, which the guide prices at RM600–RM2,500; it is not part of this calculator.
For cleaning, a residential rooftop tank up to about 1,000 L runs RM150–RM400 to drain, scrub, disinfect and inspect, and a larger, GRP or commercial tank RM400–RM1,500+. A float valve replacement is RM80–RM200 including labour. The figures come from our water tank cost and tank cleaning guides. | Factor | How it changes your quote |
|---|---|
| Tank material | Poly is the budget default; GRP panel tanks cost two to three times more per litre but last longer; stainless steel sits between. |
| Capacity | Two to three days of household use is a sensible buffer against supply cuts — a bigger tank costs more but rides out longer interruptions. |
| Old tank | A poly tank lifts out; an old concrete or built-in fibreglass tank must be hacked out and carted away. |
| Roof access | A three-storey roof or a tight access hatch adds manpower or a crane lift. |
| Frame and plumbing | A corroded frame or old inlet, outlet and overflow pipes add to the job. Ask whether they are reused or replaced. |
| Cleaning access | Tank size and how easily the crew can reach the roof hatch decide where a tank clean lands in its range. |
