Illustrative concept design: living room with a curved cream boucle sofa, a travertine drum table, a stone-look panel wall with brass reveals and a crystal pendant cluster

A luxury living room is built on one or two statement surfaces, proportioned light and very careful detailing: stone or panelling on the main wall, a light fitting sized to the ceiling, curtains that run floor to ceiling and joints that line up. In a bungalow or semi-D with a double-height hall the statement can be architectural; in a condo or terrace the same effect comes from the "nampak mewah" route: mouldings, one pendant, mirror and good curtains. These 13 concept designs show statement walls, light and ceilings, display and entertaining, and budget looks. Use the filters below to narrow them by type or by home.

What makes a living room look luxurious

Luxury in a living room is less about how much is in the room and more about how it is made. One statement surface, light that suits the ceiling height and joints that line up do more than a room full of gold. ClickBina's luxury interior guide explains what separates real luxury work from premium work across the whole home; this gallery is only about the living room.

  • One statement wall. Stone, panelling or a display niche, not all three.
  • Light in proportion. A pendant or chandelier sized to the ceiling, plus hidden cove or pelmet light.
  • Floor to ceiling. Curtains, panels and stone that run the full height make the room feel taller.
  • Tactile pieces. Velvet, boucle, travertine and leather in small doses.
  • Clean details. Lined-up joints, hidden cables and flush skirting are what make it look expensive.

Light and ceiling height

The ceiling decides how big the light can be. A double-height hall can take a large chandelier, but it needs a fixing into the slab and a plan for cleaning and bulb changes; the guide to closing or opening a void covers what changes with the height. In a condo with a normal ceiling, a linear pendant, a lit pelmet or a coffered detail gives the same glow without crowding the room. See the living room ceiling designs for options.

Practical limits in a luxury living room

  • Humidity and sun. Velvet, leather and solid timber suffer in sunny, damp rooms; choose performance fabrics and engineered boards.
  • Heavy fittings. Chandeliers, stone panels and mirrors need proper fixings, planned before walls and ceilings are finished.
  • Upkeep. Brass, glass and natural stone need regular cleaning, sealing or polishing.
  • Strata rules. Condo hacking, ceiling work and heavy wall cladding may need management approval.
  • Restraint. Too many statement pieces cancel each other out; choose one to lead.

What a luxury living room costs

ClickBina's living room design guide puts a feature wall with ceiling and lighting at RM8,000 – RM20,000 and a full living room with built-ins and finishes at RM18,000 – RM40,000. The luxury interior guide places premium finish work at RM180 – RM280 per sq ft, with true luxury above that.

For the details, natural stone flooring is listed at RM30 – RM80 per sq ft supplied and laid, a full-height display cabinet with glazed doors and LED lighting at RM2,500 – RM6,000, and a chandelier point reinforced to the slab at RM150 – RM480 per point. These are indicative Klang Valley figures for 2026.

Common Questions

How can I make my living room look luxurious on a budget?
Choose one feature wall in wainscoting or mirror, one statement pendant, floor-to-ceiling curtains and a few tactile pieces such as boucle or velvet. Keep the rest of the room quiet.
What materials make a living room look expensive?
Stone or stone-look panels, walnut veneer, brass details, velvet, boucle and travertine, used in small doses with careful joints.
How big should a chandelier be for a living room?
Size it to the ceiling: a double-height hall can take a large chandelier, while a condo living room usually suits a linear pendant. Heavy fittings need a reinforced point.
Is a coffered ceiling suitable for a condo?
Only where there is enough height, because coffers lower the ceiling at the beams. A cove or lit pelmet is often better in a condo.
Is brass inlay in a tiled floor practical?
Yes, if it is laid with the tiles. Brass needs occasional polishing to stay bright.
Luxury or modern classic for a living room?
Modern classic uses mouldings and symmetry; contemporary luxury relies on stone, metal and lighting. Many homes mix the two.
Are the designs on this page real ClickBina projects?
No. They are illustrative concept designs that show luxury living room options. Your room is assessed and quoted to its own walls, ceiling and budget.
