Browse 12 facade looks for a semi-D, where one side is shared with a mirrored twin and the other side is open, then see what each one involves.
📍 We serve KL, Selangor & Putrajaya.

A semi-D facade has one shared side and one open side. The shared party wall and roof tie your house to a mirrored twin, so a makeover is always read against it; the open side gives you a second face to design, with side windows, a side yard and often a side gate. The frontage is also wider than a terrace, so it takes a double porch, a proper entrance and a lighting plan. These 12 concept designs show semi-D fronts and open sides in modern, tropical, contemporary and repaint styles, including single-storey semi-Ds.
Each design below is an illustrative concept render of a semi-D front or open side, with the twin house left as it is. Filter them by style, by open side or by single-storey. Tap any image to enlarge it. Every card links to the ClickBina guide that covers the work behind that look.

balcony designs →These are illustrative concept designs created to show semi-D facade options. They are not completed ClickBina projects. We repaint, clad and refit semi-D fronts as part of our renovation work, and your house is assessed and quoted to its own walls, twin and council or management rules.

Start with the twin. A semi-D shares its central party wall and usually its roof with the house next door, which was built as a mirror image. Whatever you change will always be seen next to that twin, so the best makeovers either stay close to it in colour and line, or make a clear, deliberate contrast that stops cleanly at the party wall.
Agree anything that touches the shared wall, roof or porch line with your neighbour first; ClickBina's party wall guide explains why.
| Element | What it changes | Semi-D watch-out | Approval to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Repaint, new colour | The whole mood of the house | Read it against the twin; stop at the party wall | Usually cosmetic; gated schemes may control colour |
| Cladding on the open corner | Warmth and depth | Stop at the party wall line | Management in gated schemes |
| Louvres on the side wall | Sun and privacy | Window access behind the fins | Management; council for larger structures |
| Entrance canopy or porch roof | The entrance and the porch | Junction with the shared porch line | Council approval for new structures |
| Boundary wall and gates | The street face | Corner sight lines on the open side | Council for raised or rebuilt walls |
| Facade lighting | The night look | No glare into the twin's windows | Wiring by a competent electrician |
| Semi-D | Usually works | Watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Double-storey, open side to the west | Louvres or cladding on the side, light colours | Afternoon heat on the side wall |
| Double-storey, twin unchanged | A colour block that stops at the party wall | Clashing with the twin's paint |
| Single-storey | A gable feature, skylights, a canopy over the door | Roof line changes need approval |
| Wide plot with two cars | A double porch roof tied to the balcony line | Structural drawings for a concrete roof |
This gallery is about the outside of a semi-D. For the inside, see the semi-D and bungalow interior design gallery. The main gate design gallery, the car porch design gallery and the side yard landscaping guide cover the pieces around the facade, and the wider house exterior design gallery shows fronts for every house type.
ClickBina's exterior repaint guide puts an exterior repaint of a semi-D at RM6,000 – RM12,000, with scaffold or rope access for upper floors adding RM800 – RM2,500 (indicative Klang Valley ranges for 2026).
For the bigger pieces, the car porch design gallery quotes a single-car steel-frame canopy at RM8,000 – RM15,000 and a full RC slab porch at RM25,000 – RM50,000, and the louvre screen guide lists a louvre screen at RM200 – RM400 per sq ft. Cladding, gates, bays and lighting are quoted per job. Ask for each item separately so you can phase the work.
We repaint, clad and refit semi-D fronts and open sides as part of our renovation work, and we can build car porches and install awnings and gates. Council and management rules still apply, so check them before the work starts.
